It’s Black Friday for Travelers

It’s Black Friday for Travelers

IF YOU’RE PLAYING SANTA THIS YEAR DO NOT DELAY! If you are not buying your Holiday purchases thru a loyalty shopping portal it’s time to start, you are gonna love these deals. American Airlines Shopping Portal is offering thousands of AAdvantage air miles to shoppers who use their shopping portal.

If you are not familiar with shopping portals you are missing one of the best Geezer Tools for free travel. Here is how a shopping portal works.

Step One: You enter the shopping portal. The address for American Airlines shopping portal is aadvantageeshopping.com. Some other shopping portals are: Delta’s skymilesshopping.com, United’s shopping.mileageplus.com . Some travel credit cards offer shopping portals that will build their loyalty miles and then there are stand alone shopping portals like MyPoints.com . One trend that is becoming huge is the use of cash back portals. While travel shopping portals like Aadvantageeshopping.com offer loyalty points the cash back portals offer rebates some examples of cash back portals are Mr. Rebates, and Ebates

Step Two: Go to the portals search option and search for the product you are looking for. In my example above I was looking for a hotel. As you can see from the screen shot there are motel chains that use the AA shopping portal. Your search can be broad like “hotels” or as specific as a search like “Cheerios”.

Step Three: Find the best deal for your chosen product and click the company you want to buy the product from. In this example I chose Choice hotels and will get 3 American Airlines air miles for every dollar I spend while I am at the Choice Hotel site. So If I get a hotel room worth $100 I will get 300 American Airlines air miles just for using the American Airlines shopping portal.

Step Four: Enjoy your “stacked” points. I call these stacked points because you will get all of the loyalty advantages from you Choice Hotel membership and/or using a Choice Hotel credit card and on top of those great loyalty advantages you will also get those 300 AA air miles.

For the geeks on the site let’s work thru the math. Just by passing thru the Advantage Shopping Portal you will get a sweet 5.1 (3 air miles x 1.7 cent value for each mile) cents worth of air miles for every dollar you spend. Because the portal is only shifting you to the main site you will still get all the loyalty benefits of the product on top of your portal bonus.

This week in the spirit of Black Friday Aadvantageeshopping.com is offering some amazing deals until the 19th of November. First, based on the amount of the purchase you make thru the portal you can get up to 4000 bonus AA miles. Second, many of the vendor that are partnered with the portal are offering additional Black Friday bonus miles. Many major vendors are offering double miles for purchases made thru the portal. Major online vendors like  Walgreens, Barney’s New York, Kohl’s and Macy’s are offering double points this week to celebrate Black Friday and the start of the Holiday season.

These two Black Friday offers make the AA shopping portal a great place to shop for your early Xmas gifts.  Again just to explore these great deals let’s say after going thru the AA portal you buy $150 worth of Xmas gifts at Macy’s. Just for taking the 10 seconds to go thru the AA shopping portal you will get 500 bonus miles from the AA portal bonus offer plus 900 bonus from the Macy’s bonus offer for a grand total of 1400 American Airlines Miles that have a value of $23.80 ( 1400 bonus miles x 1.7 cents per mile)worth or free miles just for using the portal. That FREE $23.80 was saved by taking 10 seconds to use the American Airlines Shopping Portal to get to the Macy’s website. I’m not going to bore you with more math but lets just say thats a good return on your effort.

I can tell you that in the next week Charlene and I will be getting a lot of Xmas shopping done thru the  Aadvantageeshopping.com.
