Each year around this time the Cruise lines start putting their fall repositioning cruises on sale and this year looks like a great year to get some amazing deals on fall repositioning cruises. A quick look at vacationstogo.com shows dozens of heavily discounted repositioning cruises from Europe back to the U.S. and to South America. Seven of the cruises I saw were for less than $50 dollars a day and one with Pullmantur was only $18 a day. As always these cruise prices won’t include the hidden costs of “tips” and fuel surcharges that many cruise lines like to hide from unsuspecting cruisers but on the other hand many of them offer some great incentives such as on board credits and free beverage packages.
Some of the best deals I saw were:
Rome to Miami for $33 a day with Norwegian leaving on Nov. 5th for a 15 day cruise.
Barcelona to Port Canaveral for $45 a day with Norwegian leaving on Nov. 5th for a 13 day cruise.
Marseille to Rio for $60 a day with Costa leaving on Nov. 23rd for a 30 day cruise.
Although Vacations to go is my go to Cruise website you should also check out the deals at American Airlines Cruise site, United Airlines Cruise site, and Delta Airlines Cruise site. The Airlines Cruise site will often offer better incentives including bonus air miles for your cruise purchases.
With the fall repositioning cruises coming on sale it’s a good time to start planning a fall trip. Also one way flights to Europe where most of the repositioning cruises are originating are quite inexpensive with some of the discount carriers like Norwegian Air offering one way flights for less than $300 in late October.
On top of very good prices on the repositioning cruises and cheap flights the Euro to dollar ratio is $1.12 which is not the best exchange rate we have seen but certainly better than a few years ago.
To Recap, a trip to Europe in the fall is looking like a great bargain especially if you use a repositioning cruise to come home. Go Geezers.
